The nation's largest firearms training institute, Front Sight Firearms Training Institute, took time recently to applaud the courageous security guard who defended her local church by handling a crazed shooter who entered the grounds of the church and opened fire on the innocent churchgoers. Colorado Springs churchgoer Jeanne Assam, who was privately trained and state-certified in firearm possession utilized the training she had received in the past to subdue the would-be murderer.
Why should the applause of Front Sight's matter for anything? Because Front Sight Firearms Training Institute is known as the top dog throughout the gun training industry. Front Sight is the nation's largest, most successful firearms training institute. Front Sight delivers gun training to more students every year than all other major shooting schools in the nation combined. And so, to hear of a student, even a student of some other shooting school, who successfully held off murder and needless loss of life through responsible use of private firearms training, is both exciting and redeeming.
Front Sight and Front Sight's founder and director, Ignatius Piazza, were obviously saddened to hear of the deaths of five people in total on Sunday, but how wonderful that a private citizen took responsibility for a situation and used the gun training she had received earlier and implemented it to the precise end that the training is intended for. Ignatius Piazza tries to make stories as examples for why citizens should receive firearms training, but after an event like Sunday's, what more needs to be said?
Jeanne Assam received firearms training in the past, and got certified to carry a firearm in the state of Colorado. When her church requested for those parishioners who had received gun training and were certified to carry to volunteer as security, she accepted. When a situation arose in which there was an armed attacker with murder on his mind, she successfully utilized the firearms training she had known would be useful in such a situation. As Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight Firearms Training Institute have been saying for years, gun training makes people safe.
Whenever Ignatius Piazza hears objections to gun training or citizens carrying firearms training, he - along with most of right-thinking America - is shocked that people would honestly think that to remain untrained in firearms use and unarmed in the face of increasing violent crime and murder is somehow logical.
Places like Washington D.C. in particular burn Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight up. Washington D.C.'s handgun ban makes it impossible for any citizen to possess a firearm in their private residence, and all shotguns and rifles must be rendered inoperable. What kind of a law is that? How will people defend themselves against armed attackers if they aren't armed and equipped with firearms training?
Front Sight asks, How would Jeanne Assam have protected her Colorado Springs church and fellow churchgoers if she hadn't received gun training? How many more of the attendees of the megachurch in Colorado would have died if she hadn't been fully licensed with excellent firearms training?
