You know, I’ve seen a lot of people talking about the need to vary up marketing because if you don’t your customers will get bored.
This is certainly true. The more you stick to the same types of marketing the more likely it is that your customers are going to get tired of seeing the same things over and over again. I would heed this advice, but there’s another side of it as well that I think is just as important that gets ignored.
What do you think about your marketing? The person making the marketing is just as capable of getting bored with it as the customer looking at the marketing. If you get bored with it I can assure you the end result is going to suffer. How can you make an exciting or interesting marketing push if you’re not excited about it at all?
The kind of emotions a person puts into their marketing greatly changes what the end results of that marketing is. Don’t even let yourself think otherwise, because this is certainly true. You just need to be excited, or at least emotionally involved in your marketing for it to be successful.
I think there is probably a strong correlation too between customers getting bored and you getting bored. This allows you to head off problems with losing customers if you’re paying attention. When you start to get bored that’s a good sign that your customers are about to as well, if they haven’t already.
The best way to get your interest back up is by finding something you haven’t done very much of any diving into it. Have you use greeting card printing with your company? This might be a good chance to get used to a new form of marketing, which will help get you more motivated and involved in the process.
Whenever you’re working on something new for the first time it becomes a lot easier to keep your attention on it. If not greeting card printing, than maybe start making brochures or go for posters if you haven’t already. The point is to find something you don’t do as much and make yourself an expert on it. When you’re learning you’re going to be more involved and more passionate about your work.
The worst thing you can do is ignore your own boredom and try to stick with the same marketing. If you do that you can be sure that your customers are going to quickly get bored as well. The mere fact that you aren’t putting your whole heart into anymore will be enough to make sure that they want feel the same interest in the end results. How can they when the end results are boring even to you?
