How come we are getting fatter?

How come we are getting fatter?

Everywhere, across the world, people are gaining weight. China, Japan and even Korea, who have never before had to worry about obesity, are now seeing the numbers on the scales rise higher and higher. It appears as if no one these days can escape the continuously expanding waistline. Is the human race destined to be fat? If not, what is causing this phenomenon? Poor nutrition can be the only answer. We are not taking enough care of our nutrition ,actually, severely lacking in caring about our eating patterns ,food preferences and quantity of food intake. There are many reasons why weight is becoming a major problem including the increase in fast food restaurants, the increase in portion sizes and the increase in processed, sugary foods. An answer does exist, though it can only be found by learning about proper nutrition.

People are so obsessed with food and how food tastes now, and even how much they get of it, that they seem to forget that food is simply fuel for the body. Our body turns the food we eat into energy, in order to keep us moving each day. When there is a surplus of fuel, the body stores it as fat. When taking fat into consideration, our body's are merely acting as they were designed. It is not our body's way of getting back at us or being spiteful. Fat has several important functions for our body. It is fat which provides us with heat when we are cold, also the insulation to our bones and internal organs and even to our muscles is provided by fat only. Excess calories get turned into fat when we eat too much, and we don't burn off those calories with exercise or everyday activities. These are nutritional considerations that we must take into account. With the vast amounts that people eat in today's world, fat builds up alarmingly quick.

To acheive overall balance and good health, proper nutrition is a must. You can still eat your favorite meals, snacks and sweets. To avoid getting overweight you will need to balance these carefully. It is important that your diet contain enough fruits, vegetables, lean meats and nutrition supplements. Treats and desserts can be used to reward yourself for sticking to your nutrition plan all week. When it comes to a healthy weight remember as long as you exercise enough to burn off extra calories you can splurge once or twice a week.

Are You Overweight?

When you are overweight, proper nutrition and exercise can help you lose that weight.
For those who already eat a balanced diet, try eating smaller meals more often. (for example, eating six small snacks/meals each day) and get at least a half an hour of exercise 3-5 times a week, and you'll lose weight before you know it! It remains that there is no quick remedy for losing weight. You have to work at it. But you don't have to do it like on the infomercials, where they're all sweating and panting to death. To lose weight you must have your nutrient needs met and then a few walks around the block will help to burn enough calories to lose the weight.
