Are you fearful of the economic conditions of our time,
your health diagnoses, your future? Maybe you
are not even aware that you're being tormented by a deep-
seated fear.
Fear affects your whole internal system causing your
immune system to deplete and eventually, if allowed to
persist, can turn into stress, depression and every
conceivable illness.
"The thing which I greatly feared is come upon me." (Job
3: 25)
Alas, Job's grievous comment is all too often true. We
have all heard people around us say things like: "See, I
knew that would happen" or "I told you so," with a somewhat
triumphant face at having predicted it.
The sad truth is that you do predict it when you say it.
Pre-dict means to say beforehand. A fundamental law is that
what you sow is what you will get. By speaking the
negative, you do affect your belief system.
You can have faith for healing or good things and speak
those into being. But, the opposite is also true for the
negative.
The question is not so much as to whether you are fearful
under certain circumstances. There are very few people who
don't face fear on a daily basis. It's much more important
to know what to do about fear trying to control you.
So, what is the antidote for fear? When fear strikes to
the very depths of your being, that's the time you need a
great deal of love. Yes, love!
Fear promotes discouragement and ends in defeat. On the
other hand, love promotes hope, which produces overcoming
faith. Isn't that the exact opposite of what fear does?
It's no wonder then that love is the greatest of the three
ingredients to victorious Christian life: faith, hope and
love! (1 Cor. 13: 13)
God is love and to love God is the first and greatest
commandment. God has given us the commandments ultimately
for our own good.
"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out
fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not
made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved
us." (1 John 4: 18 - 19)
The best source for acquiring that love and peace you so
desperately need is the Bible. All the answers to every
fear and problem are there. Talk to God and wait quietly to
allow Him to reach out to you. He always does both through
the Scriptures He leads you to and the peace that
accompanies being in His presence.
"Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one
another… If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and
His love is perfected in us." (1 John 4: 11 - 12)
It has been my experience time and time again that when I
was most in need of prayer and comfort, circumstances
presented themselves for me to pray for others in even
worse situations. It's a sobering and humbling experience
to realize that your problems may be insignificant to those
of others.
To exercise faith for someone else's situation, especially
at a time that you don't feel you have it in you, can bring
about a miracle! That is putting love and faith into
action. That's some powerful duo to get worry and fear
scurrying.
Remember these words:
"God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power,
and of love, and of a sound mind." ( 2 Tim. 1: 7)
You are more than a conqueror. Nothing can separate you
from the love of God (Rom. 8: 37 - 38)
