The 33 years-old Alessandro del Piero and his team Juventus have struggled during the start of this season 2008-2009 by not winning the last four games, falling into the 11th place of the standings of Seria A, winning only two games of the league and scoring only 5 goals in the 6 games they have played.
Now the fans and media are really concerned about the future of the team on this season. Del Piero had to be out for some time due to an injury, but his return to the field after that hasn’t been the best for him as he hasn’t been able to help his team by scoring.
In their last game against Palermo, the team tried to battle for a positive result, however, the game ended with a loss of 2-1. In the midfield there was lack of creativity and the team didn’t look good in occasions, especially when they were left with only 10 when Mohamed Sissoko got a second yellow before the end of the first half, at the minute 41. That gave Fabrizio Miccoli and Levan Mchedlidze the option to score for Palermo. The result of Palermo became history because this was their first victory against Juventus at Turin in 47 years.
On the other hand, Alessadro del Piero has stated that the team has to stick together to find a way to get out of the crisis and play as a team. He also alleged that his team Juve needs to find a solution and take out the problems that have been affecting the club for many weeks now.
One of the problems that have been affecting the team is the injuries of several players. That is the case of the goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and the winger Mauro Camoranesi. Buffon will be out of action for a month, whereas Camoranesi will have to rest for at least three weeks. Moreover, the French striker David Trezeguet had a knee surgery last month and will be out until next year.
Also, Alessandro Del Piero was out for some time but he returned to action. It has been said for many that Del Piero got into a small talk with coach Ranieri. Both had a disagreement during the training pitch last week in which coach Ranieri expressed to Del Piero certain point of views but Del Piero didn’t approved Ranieri’s opinion and said that he was not the problem of the team. Some reports said that Ranieri is not happy with Del Piero’s performance since he has not scored in the 6 games of the season so far.
However, some Bianconeri fans are not happy with Ranieri either and some expect him to leave the club. Nevertheless the club administrator Jean-Claude Blanc has confidence in Ranieri and he has stated that Ranieri is an excellent coach and that he knows he will take the team up to good results again for this season.
''I understand the concerns of the fans. But we will not make a coaching change. We have complete trust in Ranieri just as the Juve president said on Sunday. With Ranieri, with his coaching staff, with the medical staff we will analyze the situation in order to find solutions to see Juve return to be the team that we saw at the end of August,'' expressed Blanc.
We hope for Juventus to find their way back to glory so we can see again the great football of the Bianconeri, which has a great history and great players. The fans are expecting this and we all know the players are hunger for positive results.
