Las Vegas window cleaning is a bit different than the rest of the country for a variety of reasons; the main ones being the dry, windy, and dusty weather. New home construction also kicks up quite a bit of dust in the neighboring areas. Rain is not much of a concern in the Las Vegas valley as it is in other parts of the country for obvious reasons.
So what should a complete window cleaning entail? Simple really; insides, outsides, tracks, sills, and screens make up a complete window cleaning job. Taking the time to move furniture so as not to damage it and lay down drop cloths where necessary to take extra caution show the professionalism of the company and care for the customer. Wiping down and vacuuming the tracks and sills show more support for doing a thorough job as opposed to just a “glass job” (bare minimum cleaning involving nothing more than just the panes of the glass).
Screens are a whole other story in themselves. There is one way I can think of to not clean them which known as "dry brushing." Dry Brushing is simply taking a brush to a dry screen and trying to knock off dust and dirt- no detergent or water is used. This never works completely and often leaves brush marks. The best way to clean screens involves a mild detergent, patience, a fresh bristled brush, and a small amount of elbow grease. In my professional opinion, if you just cleaned the screens properly, that alone would make an outstanding difference in the presentation of your home in Las Vegas.
What about the cost to have a professional company clean your windows? Prices typically range from $5-$7 per window. Screens can cost on average of another $1-$2 per screen; and solar screen cleaning and additional premium of $3 plus per window. It is also a good idea to clarify what is getting cleaned for the money you are being charged and what is not being cleaned.
As a window cleaning professional I find that doing a full service cleaning once a year is sufficient for most customers while maintaining the outsides at least 3-4 times a year. Living on a golf course that uses recycled water is an example of one of the areas that must have their windows cleaned on a monthly basis to avoid long term water damage to the windows such as calcification.
In addition to window cleaning, many window cleaners also clean pot shelves, change filters in air returns, change light bulbs, provide power washing services, remove pigeons, hang Christmas lights, and many related household chores involving a ladder.
Asking for references is fair request and should be readily supplied by any professional window cleaning company. It helps a customer determine who is in this for the long haul opposed to a “fly by night” operation. It is important to the life of a window cleaning company to have repeat business for long term growth. This ensures customer satisfaction and ideal business ethics.
