My seventeen year old son decided to become a rodeo cowboy after attending rodeo camp at a ranch in Oklahoma. I wanted to support him in any way I could, of course, but this can be an expensive hobby, at least until it becomes a source of income. There was a long list of supplies that needed to be purchased, starting with cowboy boots and western wear. Since most things can be purchased online for a cheaper price than at a store, I went to the computer and looked up western apparel. I was surprised and pleased with the selection that's available, and I began to realize that making my son's dream was a real possibility.
My purchases started with cowboy boots, as this was one of the most expensive items on the list. At the local western wear outlet, the cost for an average pair of cowboy boots was around two hundred dollars, but they were only about a hundred and fifty bucks at the online store. Having settled the cost, it was a matter of finding the brand of boots that fit him most comfortably. He tried on several brands at the store, until he decided that he liked the fit of one pair the best. The brand he found is known for its rugged, comfortable, and long-lasting cowboy boots, so I had no problem spending the money, especially since the website was saving me as much as fifty dollars.
Jeans and shirts were also much cheaper online. The cost of a pair of Wranglers was around forty-five dollars at the store, but online they were only twenty-five to thirty-five dollars. We ended up buying several pairs because we figured his jeans would be the first things to tear. Next, we picked out his cowboy hats. Having heard the name Stetson for years, he already knew that it was the brand he wanted, and luckily the website offered a variety to choose from. He needed a straw hat for the warmer weather and a felt one for the colder days. While the straw hats cost about seventy-five dollars at the store, they were only sixty dollars online, and the felt hats were about twenty bucks cheaper at the online store as well. Next came the belts and the buckles, the light coats and the heavy winter ones. Again and again, we found ourselves saving money at the western wear website. Of course, western apparel is hardly cheap, but I found that you can literally save a fortune by going online for the items you need.
By the end of the day, we saved a total of about four hundred dollars by going online for our purchases, and both me and my son are thrilled with the way things turned out. His dream of being a cowboy is now becoming a reality, and I was able to make this happen without going broke. The best part is watching him at the rodeos. Last month he won four contests, taking first place in three of them, and I must admit, he looked incredibly handsome in his new clothes (even after ripping through two pairs of jeans). I've never seen him look happier, which makes every dime spent well worth it. And of course, knowing how much money I saved at the online western wear store makes me smile, too.
